A one day itinerary to Las Vegas's must see attractions
The entertainment capital of the world, situated in the midst of the southern Nevada desert landscape, boasts giant casino hotels and a pulsating nightlife. Explore the glamorous city of Las Vegas and its alluring attractions in just one day by following this action-packed itinerary.
Town Square Shopping
Just south of Mandalay you’ll find a delightful outdoor mall in the shape of a small Mediterranean town. An extensive network of trees, shadow alleys and water sprayers let you enjoy hot mornings outside, while the picturesque town square offers ice-cream stands and benches to rest on. Spend your morning shopping until you drop, before enjoying a renowned Las Vegas buffet lunch.
Buffet Lunch
Las Vegas is famous for its diverse and reasonable buffets. Try the Village Seafood Buffet on West Flamingo Road in Rio, Le Village Buffet in French Las Vegas or The Buffet in Wynn Las Vegas – offering 16 cooking stations of extraordinary and exotic international foods.
The Venetian
Head for this enchanting hotel and ride a gondola inside or outside, before visiting the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum - featuring masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection. The Venetian also hosts a Madame Tussauds wax museum.
Bellagio
The Fountains of the Bellagio perform a magnificent display every 15 minutes in the evenings – a must-see for visitors to Las Vegas. Inside the Bellagio casino there is a spectacular flower garden as well as a fine art gallery.
Dinner
The Strip offers restaurants to suit everyone’s tastes and cravings. AJ’s Steakhouse in Hard Rock Hotel serves great martinis and Filet Mignons, while Nobu is a favourite among sushi lovers and offers a fusion of traditional Japanese cuisine with Latin spices and flavors. Shang-hail Lily in Mandalay Bay offers gourmet Chinese, while Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill in Harrah’s serves American cuisine such as steaks, burgers, meatloaf and fried catfish.
Cirque du Soleil
The hottest tickets in town are for Cirque du Soleil. There are five different shows to enjoy, so choose the one that appeals to you the most and reserve your tickets well in advance. Mystère is a classic Cirque show full of amazing feats, impressive costumes and humor, while Love features fresh mixes of classic Beatles tunes.
Sirens of Treasure Island
If you can’t get tickets or are on a budget, the Sirens of Treasure Island is a wonderful show that you can enjoy for free. What was once a family-oriented pirate show has now changed to a more adult show complete with showgirls and hunky pirates. Shows are in the evening, and visitors should plan to arrive early as it is difficult to get a good viewing spot.
Gambling & Nightlife
Almost every hotel and casino offers a club or a lounge, so nightlife is never hard to find in Sin City. Remember that the age limit for gambling is 21, and also remember to take it easy unless you want to end up getting married. Ask service staff at your hotel for advice on where to go – they will usually know what’s hip and happening when you are in town.
